Stalin’s Pipe

In Uncategorized on August 10, 2009 at 5:03 pm

While Stalinist show trials are happening in Iran, the following Stalin joke (source) is becoming very popular among Iranians and being shared with Facebook, Yahoo messenger and other social networking tools:

A delegation from his native Georgia leaves Stalin’s office after a long meeting. Stalin realizes that he cannot find his pipe and calls Dzerzhinsky to find out if anyone from the delegation took his pipe. After 30 minutes Stalin finds the pipe under the table and calls Dzerzhinsky to let the delegation go. Dzerzhinsky answers Stalin’s call: “I am sorry Comrade, but one half of the delegation already admitted that they took your pipe, and the other half died during questioning.”

The sad thing is that to Iranians these days, it sounds more like reality than just a joke.

A Message From an 81 Year Old Mom

Susan Macaulay, founder of www.amazingwomenrock.com writes:

People who live more than eight decades generally acquire some wisdom. Simple wisdom that comes from personal experience.

My mom Patti is no exception.

She turns 81 in a few weeks. Although her memory isnt what it used to be, her heart knows whats right, and shes not afraid to speak her mind.

She and I had a conversation about Iran tonight. I asked her a few questions. Her simple answers made a whole lot of sense.

Galileo’s Confessions

In Uncategorized on August 8, 2009 at 6:50 pm

One of the most striking confessions that show the absurdity of forcing people to confess under torture comes from Galileo Galilei, the person who discovered that the world was not flat and that the Sun does not revolve around Earth. These confessions that are circulating in social networks these days to remind us of the absurdity of the forced confessions taking place in Iran today, are taken from this source:

I, Galileo, son of the late Vincenzio Gaillei of Florence, seventy years of age, arraigned personally for judgment, kneeling before you Most Eminent and Most Reverend Cardinals Inquisitors- General against heretical depravity in all of Christendom, having before my eyes and touching with my hands the Holy Gospels, swear that I have always believed, I believe now, and with God’s help I will believe in the future all that the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church holds, preaches, and teaches. However, whereas, after having been judicially instructed with injunction by the Holy Office to abandon completely the false opinion that the sun is the center of the world and does not move and the earth is not the center of the world and moves, and not to hold, defend, or reach this false doctrine in any way whatever, orally or in writing; and after having been notified that this doctrine is contrary to Holy Scripture; I wrote and published a book in which I treat of this already condemned doctrine and adduce very effective reasons in its favor, without refuting them in any way; therefore, I have been judged vehemently suspected of heresy; namely of having held and believed that the sun is the center of the world and motionless and the earth is not the center and moves.

Therefore, desiring to remove from the minds of your Eminences and every faithful Christian this vehement suspicion, rightly conceived against me, with a sincere heart and unfeigned faith I abjure, curse, and detest the above-mentioned errors and heresies, and in general each and every other error, heresy, and sect contrary to the Holy Church; and I swear that in the future I will never again say or assert, orally or in writing, anything which might cause a similar suspicion about me; on the contrary, if I should come to know any heretic or anyone suspected of heresy I will denounce him to this Holy Office, or to the Inquisitor or Ordinary of the place where I happen to be.

Furthermore, I swear and promise to comply with and observe completely all the penances which have been or will be imposed upon me by this Holy Office; and should I fall to keep any of these promises and oaths, which God forbid, I submit myself to all the penalties and punishments imposed and promulgated by the sacred canons and other particular and general laws against similar delinquents. So help me God and these Holy Gospels of His, which I touch with my hands.

I, the above-mentioned Galileo Galilei, have abjured, sworn, promised, and obliged myself as above; and in witness of the truth I have signed with my own hand the present document of abjuration and have recited it word for word in Rome, at the convent of the Minerva, this twenty-second day of June 1633.

I, Galileo Gililei, have abjured as above, by my own hand

In Uncategorized on August 7, 2009 at 5:15 pm

YouTube user Grannie4peace has uploaded this very touching confession video that is touching people’s hearts:

This video is also popular on balatarin.com. Not to mention all the amazing comments it has been receiving here.

This lovely Grannie has previously made other great videos about Iran as well which you can check out on her YouTube channel. The most famous of these is her open letter to Khamenei:

This 62 year old, “semi retired letter carrier in Virginia” as she describes her self to us, has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. “I have been watching twitter since the election. I wanted the world to wear green for you. I watch everyday and pray for Iran”, she tells us, and says she also knows there is a little blind boy on twitter who prays to see Iran free also (We think she may be referring to PD90). This wonderful grannie says she has come to love the people of Iran and continues: “I mourn with the mourning mothers & belong to grandmothers for peace in the USA. We stand with the mourning mothers in silent protest against the crimes of torture & repression happening in iran!”

The Joy of Prison

In Uncategorized on August 7, 2009 at 3:08 am

Who said that people in Iranian prisons are forced to confess under torture?! We know for a fact based on the following confession from a reader in Austria that Iranian prisons are utterly enjoyable:

Yes, indeed for V.I.P treatment you do not even need to go all the way to prison yourself, the ride and beautiful bearded escorts are entirely free!

Ebrahim Nabavi Mocks Confessions

In Uncategorized on August 3, 2009 at 2:21 am

Mohammad Ali Abtahi is one of Iran’s most lovable clerics, also known as the “blogging mullah”. You can get to know him by watching his appearance on The Daily Show. When he was arrested, many people predicted that he would be forced to make false confessions under physical and / or psychological torture. This prediction recently came true. But before it did, famous Iranian comedian and satirist Ebrahim Nabavi posted a video on YouTube imagining what Abtahi’s confession might look like.

Here is the English translation.

It is worth noting that Nabavi himself was once arrested and forced to confess. He soon fled the country and announced that the confession was by force. As you can see, Nabavi had a lot of fun with this clip and you can too 🙂
